GONZALO ROBINA


Before joining MexFund, he was the President of Fénix Capital Group. Fenix Capital Group is a company owned by Deutsche Bank, which had direct investments in over 7,000 real estate assets in Mexico nationwide, and has managed more than 14,000 real estate assets for third parties.


Among other duties, he was in charge of the three equity portfolios owned by Deutsche Bank and third investors, and in general of running the entire company and the expansion of the group within the new investments, with special interest back then in Industrial Portfolios and Hotel / Resorts investments.


His last transaction before he left Fenix Capital Group was a purchase of a 3,000,000 square feet industrial portfolio on behalf of Deutsche Bank Germany, which became one of the top 3 real estate transactions in Mexico.


In the past he worked in the Commercial Direction of the Corporate Business of GICSA, where he was in charge for marketing the inventory of corporative offices, retail and industrial premises of the Group, a post that he held for two years, signing leases for over 4,000,000 square feet with companies such as Carrefour, Comercial Mexicana, Vitro, Ericsson, Tyco, Value Casa de Bolsa, Publicis, Grupo Gomo and Target, among others.


Prior to his incorporation to GICSA, he worked as Executive Vice-President of Binswanger México BDI (Bufete de Desarrollo Inmobiliario) where from 1997 to 2002 he intervened in the sale or rent of multiple assets for several companies such as Cervecería Modelo, Cadbury Schweppes, Bristol Myers Squibb, Gigante, Coppel, Procter & Gamble, Walmart and Televisa, among others. Over the years he has closed transactions for over 1 million square meters of office and industrial facilities.


During 1997 to 2002 he was a Board Member of Hoteles Presidente, S.A. de C.V., owner of the Intercontinental Hotels in Mexico.


Gonzalo Robina has a 28-year experience within the real-estate industry, in different disciplines such as development, administration, brokerage and valuation. He has been a speaker in several international panels, mainly in the United States, promoting foreign investment in Mexico, directly in the real-estate area or indirectly with potentials users of assets, mainly from the Maquila industry.


He obtained a BA degree at Universidad Iberoamericana. He studied two postgraduate courses at Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), within the areas of Finances and Commercial and Industrial Real Estate, where he was graduated in the first generation, thus he had an active participation in the development of the syllabus of such Diploma, where nowadays the eight generation is studying it.
